Sucky Workout Day

I see so many people in the Instagram fitness community that use C4 to boost their energy for workouts. Well, I'm not really into the artificial stuff, I'm breast feeding, and that stuff is expensive anyways. So here's my version of C4. :) I desperately needed it today. I'm battling a cold I caught from my son so I was super sluggish and leaning towards crashing on the couch all night.

For today's workout: I did an hour long mat Pilates class. It's been a while since I've done Pilates, but it didn't really challenge me. I enjoyed the class and may go again because of the instructor and other attendees, but just as a break from free and body weights. Another reason I like Pilates is most of the exercises force you to engage your abs.

So being that I've been sick and celebrated my first Mothers Day this past Sunday, this is my first run of the week. I'm like 4-5 miles behind for the week.

As you can see THIS. Run. Sucked. I absolutely cannot seem to find motivation to run on a treadmill. I mean... I have ran 10 miles on a treadmill while looking at a wall in the past (at my old apt complex gym). I don't get it. Maybe I need to start back using my own playlist instead of using iHeartRadio app. This 2 miles felt like an ETERNITY. If the weather permits, I would love to try for 5 miles tomorrow.

We shall see.

Slow Improvement

Saturdays workout: I ran 4.3 miles of steady inclines. Although my pace differed from last Saturday's run (4.5 miles) by 5 seconds, it was an improvement because the route was much harder. Imagine if that were a flatter course, hmmmm...

After the run, I went to a Body Works Plus Abs class at the gym. This class is a total body workout using body weight and free weight exercises. I've taken this class before but never at this location. I could tell a difference. Either this instructor was tough or I've been too lenient in my home strength workouts because I had to modify MOST of the exercises! I'm typing this on Sunday and my entire body hurts in places I forgot I had. I will definitely go back next week!

I was supposed to run for 30-40 minutes according to the training plan, but Mothers Day festivities trumped. I enjoyed my first Mothers Day, but honestly being a self proclaimed fit fanatic, I was itching to workout.

Well tomorrow starts a new week and my goals are to finish some professional develop things, redesign this blog, and workout like crazy. July 4th will be here before you know.

Sorta like a 2-a-day?

What were once quick and easy tasks are now long and I must get the timing right if I plan to be successful. Bellies must be full, naptime mustn't be near, and colorful objects must be attached to something. I'm simply referring to grocery shopping with a 6 month old. Getting out the house and back are much different these days.

That tiring task almost set the tone for the rest of the day. 3.5 miles was the plan. I ended up walking over 2 miles with a friend and going to the gym later to run 3 on the treadmill and 5 min on the stair climber.

I almost skipped the 3 miles until I logged on Instagram and saw everyone's workout posts. I didn't want to be a slacker so I bathed the boy, gave him to his dad, and went to have "me" time.t

Technically that was a two-a-day but for me, I don't feel like I've done anything if I walked most of the time. But I guess it's better than couch surfing.

I came home to finally try this spaghetti squash. I was iffy but I'll try almost anything once. This will most definitely be a staple! I'm so surprised I liked it. I mean it IS squash. I followed instructions found on Pinterest and I didn't use any seasonings. Ate it plain I guess. Now to get my husband to even put it on the tip of his tongue.

Good Times on the Pavement

The end of the week was a pretty busy week for me, hence why it has almost been a week since my last post when I was on somewhat of a roll. :) Friday was a rest and cheat day. Went to see Spiderman 2 and couldn't help but fall asleep. As usual. Oh well.

Saturday I finally made it to a group run. I joined a training group for the Peachtree Road Race 10k. If I'm going to meet my goal of finishing at a decent time (decent time hasn't been officially set) then I needed to join a group for motivation. I also wanted to test out my endurance with the solo run/walking I'd been doing the past week or so. Before Saturday, I had only run/walked 4 miles and had only ran 2 miles straight since January and that was on a treadmill. I could tell a huge difference. I only stopped at the stop lights and I made it up every last one of those inclines. I seriously think running with that jogger stroller is to credit. I Googled most of the day when I got home, lol. I guess the resistance from the stroller really helps strengthen my upper body as well as lower. My son is 15 lbs and I think the stroller I over 30 lbs. So yeah, the boy child WILL be joining me more often.

My early Mother's day gift to myself, new running shoes. :) It was time.

My endorsement contract should be in the mail, right?
I decided to follow the 10k training plan from the group training coach. So Sunday, I set out for 30-40 minutes. Since I took the boy child and the hubs, it was a run/walk. For some reason it felt easier pushing that stroller. I don't know why.

Monday was a rest day. And as I type this, it is Tuesday. 3.5-4 miles is on the plan. I'm going to run errands. Let the temp cool down and take the boy out. If I can't make it outdoors, the treadmill will have to suffice.

P.S. Fridays cheat day sprinkled a little into Saturday, Sunday, AND Monday (Cinco de Mayo). That's what happens when you put off going grocery shopping.
